The film was acclaimed by critics and audiences alike upon release, winning two Academy Awards including Best Original Song ("Give Me All Your Luvin'"). The success of the film led to django unchained in dual audio [Eng-hindi] 720p. mp4 release of an expanded version, Django Unchained: Two-Disc Unrated Director's Cut, in December 2013. It is the first film of the Tarantino-era film series featuring Jamie Foxx. The film originated from a screenplay titled "The Last Stop", written by Quentin Tarantino and Richard Starkings, which was inspired by the 1973 spaghetti western Django by Sergio Corbucci. Django Unchained had its world premiere in Zagreb on December 11, 2011. On December 23, 2011 it was officially presented for the first time at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it received positive reviews. The film was released in North America on Christmas Day, 2012. The film's casting began in 2009 with Leonardo DiCaprio reportedly being considered for the title role. However, he was deemed to old for the part, and Jamie Foxx was cast instead, against his friend Chris Tucker's wishes. Other actors considered included Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Cruise, Christoph Waltz, Bradley Cooper and Jonah Hill. Waltz eventually gave in to the script but turned down the lead role because he felt that he was too close in age to his character Django. The film marks the third time Cruise has appeared in a Tarantino film after appearing in Reservoir Dogs (which Tarantino produced) and Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2. After it first appeared on the Internet on December 20, 2011, a statement from Jamie Foxx on the social networking site Twitter confirmed Will Smith's casting as the modern-day character of Django, a slave who becomes a bounty hunter to rescue his wife from a vicious Mississippi plantation owner. Samuel L. Jackson was also cast as Calvin Candie, a cruel slave owner and mandingo trainer known as "The Candy Man". When he first read the script the only actor Tarantino wanted for part of Django was Alfred Molina as Dr. King Schultz, therefore he couldn't care less about whom he'd have signed for the second lead role. But after meeting with him in person Tarantino changed his mind and altered his opinion of Foxx. Smith's casting caused controversy among fans, since the two actors have worked together before, including in Men in Black. Smith was nominated for an Academy Award for his role as Mace Windu, but lost to Hugh Jackman for Les Misérables. On January 13, 2012 Samuel L. Jackson received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor but lost to Christoph Waltz for Django Unchained. On February 23, 2012 it won the People's Choice Award at the 43rd People's Choice Awards for Favorite Remake or Sequel Movie or TV Show. cfa1e77820
